Did you know that fully 1/3 of all the words of the Nazarene are within the 30 parables he taught? These parables were obviously very important to him. In fact, when they are translated in chronological order–the order the parables were delivered has been known and agreed upon by scholars for centuries–it becomes very clear that the parables are actually a sequence of powerful lessons, powerful Jewish mystical principles, that can help you make the quantum leap you seek to achieve in this life.
In Parable #26, The Laborers in the Vineyard, a truely enigmatic and misunderstood parable, one of the Great Quantum Mysteries is illustrated perfectly. Specifically, the Quantum Mystery of “Tunneling.”
Did you know that if two electrons are set in a “race” to a specific destination, something can be done to make one of the electrons “beat” the other one, by going faster than the speed of light for a short time?
How is this possible? No one knows, which is exactly why it is referred to as a “mystery.” In theory, we all know that Einstein clearly showed that the speed limit of the universe is the speed of light. So, this is, in theory, completely impossible.
In Parable #4, the disciples ask the teacher why he has started teaching with these sometimes strange little stories. He replies, “Because it is for you to know the ‘mysteries.’” And why on Earth would such a great teacher NOT be fully privy to the same information our modern scientists have encountered in studying the universe?
It works like this. If a barrier, a form of resistance is placed in the path of one of the two electrons in the race, a barrier which is just slightly greater than the electron can overcome by all the laws of science, something spectacular happens. And it is undisputable, because this principle is the basis of the transister (through resitance) and thus makes possible countless modern devices including the computer you are currently using, your cell phone, your car, your TV, and many other things you use every day.
If the resistance is made just so, so that is just a little bit too high for the energy of the electron to overcome, it actually disappears for a fraction of a second. It actually disappears from this “universe” and INSTANTANEOUSLY–beyond the speed of light–reappears on the other side of the resistance. The electron, in effect, “tunnels” through the barrier instantaneously. Thus, the impossible barrier ends up speeding the electron up and it wins the race.
As above, so below, and as bellow, so above.
So it is with our lives.
The challenges we encounter, the impossible barriers that we find before us on the path, can end up speeding us up so that we “win the race.” And what is the race? The race is to reach the goal. And the goal is unconditional love, unlimited compassion.
People who are born with a silver spoon in their mouths and never experience any pain or struggle, cannot know real compassion. By contrast those of us who have had terrible barriers, resistance, challenges, diseases, misfortunes, and struggles, develop unconditional love and unlimited compassion far more readily than those who never have to overcome such things.
Embrace every barrier, every challenge, every resistance before you in this life. Just persist, and believe that you can jump over the bar, even though it appears to be too high. Your FAITH will carry you through. If you persist, the universe will kick in and you will end up tunneling through, and end up where you really want to be, just that much faster.
It’s all good. Do not despair.
Prayer for the day: “Mother Father God, help me realize that the barriers I encounter are really things I have placed within my own path as devices that will help me speed me on the way to the state of infinite love and compassion that is the real goal–and the real meaning of my life. Amen”

Have been squeezed by these barriers lately and the compression has become almost unbearable. But while taking a deep, centering breath, I’ve found that I can skinny myself up and slink my way through the barriers.
Not sure how my involvement in this race against the electrons began. My nature is uncompetitive. Hurrying and winning is not my goal. But apparently, the flow of electrons has caught me up, and there is no choice for me now. Getting to the finish line, win or lose, is my only objective. Hopefully, a cold, refreshing glass of lemonade is waiting there for me!
